Received 6 zucchini from a generous coworker, so...time to get creative.
Second part of dinner. Homemade pizza
8-11-13 Sunday
Rudy and I planned a long Fat Bike ride at the powerlines last night. A day of lots of sun and temps in the mid 80's.
The closed down road(because of the flood)into Jay Cooke park.
The river couldn't be contained during the large flood and broke through here. There is an old railway bridge that is exposed that had been under a lot of dirt for a long time.
A new bridge
The Saint Louis River
Rebuilding the swinging bridge in the Park
8-10-13 Saturday
Rudy and I drove up to Beaver Bay to ride the river. We brought mtbs but didn't ride them. We also picked berries on the SHT out of Silver Bay. So many blueberries and a lot of black flies.
Rudy grabbing crayfish
I didn't make it. Got a little scared of the water.
8-9-13 Friday.
I was at work and thinking I should do a mini adventure. Like bike somewhere and camp overnight. I decided to walk down the hill about 9pm and camp at the beach at The Ledges. A really nice night and was woken by a mosquito at 6am. I got to see the sunrise and see all sorts of small boats going out fishing as the sun came up.
On the way up the hill at 7am I stopped at the raspberry patch and did some scrambling around to get berries. So many on the plants.
8-4-13 Sunday
Emily, Mike, Joanna and I went to Bayfield for a bike tour around Madeline Island. It had been over 11yrs since setting foot in Bayfield.
Aboard the ferry to Madeline
After a beautiful 6mile bike ride, we made it to Big Bay state park. It feels like the tropics here with the aqua blue water and large rocks in the water.
We hiked along a trail to a sandy beach. Along the way we stopped these deer bedded down
Some glossy mushrooms on the hike. Emily also found some edible mushrooms that she ended up dehydrating.
The large sand beach that we ended up having a picnic lunch by latter. The total bike tour was 21 miles. Madeline is relatively flat, so easy riding.
That is it for my photos, but we had a great dinner at Maggie's Cafe and then went to a Big Top for a free Reggae concert by Funkadesi. A perfect day and a pre birthday adventure for me.
