Sunday - July 19
I set out to make this a memorable day in July by doing some different activities.
First - Bike Trials by the Lake
I haven't ridden trials by Lake Superior in a long time...which is a shame. The ride down the hill on the trials bike was easy.
Some very nice graffiti
A quick pedal over to the Portland Malt shop stairs got me to the trials spots. After Lakewalk construction in this area last summer things are quite different. Trials spots are still great.
A lot of ship activity on the lake
After lunch I got the Intense 29er out after a brake bleed. While riding the Duluth Traverse near my house I saw some areas that needed trail maintenance. After the ride I grabbed some tools and took a hike up to Saint Scholastica section of the Traverse.
My first job - Clearing this fallen tree
Second job - Rebuilding the take off of this jump. It took a lot of shoveling and stacking rocks but it was a fun project. Some sore hands and even a couple blister starting. Who will be the first biker to hit the newly reformed jump? I'm motivated to work on more features on the DT near my house.
For dinner I was craving something different (not a another burrito bowl). While browsing the pantry I decided on making sushi. It has been a few months since I made sushi and it hit the spot perfectly.
A great way to wrap up a day of different activities.
