1-19-17 January Thaw Day 2

The sun is out again and the snow is melting fast. Highs in the low 40s. CAMBA, COGGS + The Birkie organization are shutting down trail use. I grabbed my nicer Panasonic camera and walked down the hill to explore the shoreline. I bumped into a Vietnam vet who use to scuba dive for fishing lures at the mouth of Chester Creek.

The mouth of Chester Creek
The catwalk under the lakewalk bridge. A bit sketchy, especially when you find homeless people on the other side (didn't happen today).
A tunnel under the freeway - Chester Creek

Some old brick work

I was standing on the catwalk and saw these bumps on the bricks and it just didn't seem natural.
Upon closer inspection, someone has glued rocks to the wall to create a homemade climbing route.

There is also this handle at the top of the archway

1-17-17 January Thaw

One week ago Duluth was in the middle of a blizzard. Jarrett and I were snowshoeing through Chester Bowl with high winds and lot of fresh snow. The temps have really changed and now it feels like spring. I took a walk down to Lief Erickson Park to check out the lake. Some great light for photographs.

Big Waves were once here
