3-31-13 Sunday with Emily
I was at the 3rd street Bakery yesterday and spied a 12 pack of Dan's Macaroonies in the freezer. I love those cookies but decided I should try making some myself. So, Sunday Emily and I baked some. They are close to 3rd Street quality[they fall apart easly]. I have some refinements for the next batch. Great cookies though.
We had spring rolls at Pak's green corner a couple of months ago and really enjoyed them so we made some at home. So fresh and the peanut sauce is a great dipping sauce. A salad in a rice wrapper basically.
3-28-13 Thursday
Biked up the hill from the apartment and went to Hartley for a ride around the swamp loop. Beautiful day at close to 40deg.
The swamp crossing
The view from Rock Knob
Perfect single track for a fat bike
A very deluxe pizza. Artichoke, black & green olives, black beans, chick peas, & mushrooms
Really enjoyed this dinner.

Snowshoe on the NorthCountry trial
Emily and I have hiked different sections of this trail and last fall we hiked to a former Swedish settlement.
Today we were hiking to a unused fire tower.
Interesting bark on the yellow birch
The terrain and forest change quite a bit on this 2.0 mi hike to the tower. There is even bedrock sticking out of the earth like Duluth. We definitely got a good workout with the deep snow and hills.
March 2013
Rudy, Leslie, Emily and I drove down to Milwaukee on Saturday. We stopped at the nature center outside the city to stretch our legs before heading downtown. We walked out on a pier by the lake and the weather was pretty decent. We decided to go to Tai-Namite for dinner which was in a cozy/hip neighborhood downtown.
I had "wrap-a-pad-thai" Lots of veggies in a very thin egg wrap/shell. Super good dinner.
2-17-13 Sunday
A day spent at Rays
Me hitting the expert jump line
Rudy flying high

The drive home Monday involved lots of snow. Rudy was a trooper and did all the driving. We stopped at the bulk food store in Barron, Wi and found some amazing deals. So much variety in that store and the prices are impressive.
Cuyuna Lakes Whiteout Ice Race
3-2-13
The woods race was complete and everyone drove back into Crosby for some festivities on the lake. A race track was plowed on the lake. The surface had a little snow but most of it was slick ice. A lot of homemade studded tires on skinny bikes during this race.
The corkscrew portion of the track. Rudy and Eric were on fat bikes w/o studs and hugged the corner during the whole race using it as a berm to get traction.
Rudy - Orange Jacket
Eric - He was really pushing it and was beating a lot of studded tire riders
A pretty neat event that brings a lot of business to the small town of Crosby.

Happy to see pictures of your Milwaukee trip. Great memories for you. Your thai food looks delicious. The bulk store is a great place to visit.
