I brought the fat bike to Cable and headed out at 830am for a ride to rock lake and around the snowshoe trails there. Well....the snow got soft and the ride turned into a long one with some walking but I had fun. Beth and Martin came to Cable for some skiing and after a tour of the museum we went to the North End for 12K of skate skiing. Fast conditions and things felt smooth and graceful at times. We went to Rivers Eatery after and bumped into various Duluth people who had been out riding on the CAMBA trails. Great Pizza and brews

Lacking snow but the singletrack is really well packed, smooth and fast. Emily and I went to Piedmont since she had never MTB there. Warm weather and good trails.
The trusty old single speed. A rush riding this compared to the slower more stable fat bike.

More fat biking happening and I decided to ride Piedmont after not using those trails for months. I am riding hartley more often since I can bike there from home.
Great conditions at Piedmont and a beautiful sunset.

After biking we went to GR to celebrate xmas a month late.
Sunday we brewed a batch of gluten free beer with dad and Emily.

A look towards the harbor
Some very grippy trails. I love trying to see what tires people are using while zipping down the trail
A creek and a bridge in Piedmont
A creek that has turned this bridge into a icy dam in Piedmont. I was amazed that the whole bridge is covered by flowing ice/water
The sunset

Fat biking conditions are pretty amazing these days. I wish we had more snow for skiing in DLH but I don't miss the skies too much with the trails in such fine shape for a bike.
I went out exploring on a late Sunday morning by riding up to St. Scolastica and the hopping on the creek that runs through the campus.
Right as I was riding up the stream I noticed a round stone building in the hillside. As I rode up to it I noticed deer had been around it because of a flow of water. I am guessing this building use to be a holding tank for water.
Some awesome skulls
All sorts of interesting graffiti
"baby I'm yours until the stars fall from the sky"
...how sweet!
The bike on the creek
As I rode a little farther I noticed another stone feature in the creek and it seems to be a old dam that doesn't really dam anything anymore. I think the 2012 flood took part of it out. I could still see debris in the trees from that event.

I ended up riding to all sorts of places I hadn't seen before in Duluth. I bushwacked through forests, cut through peoples back yards, and finally made it back to some familiar sights when I saw rice lake road. Super fun day on the fat bike.

Wow.....some great photos of amazing trails. You sure have a lot to explore! Love the sunset.
